Call

1. When referring to programming, a call is a request to process a routine or a separate program. A basic example of a call when creating a batch file is "call file.bat", which would call to execute the file file.bat. 
2. When referring to a modem or telephone, a call is the process of dialing another number to connect or talk to another computer or person.
