Solution:

Because of the differences with computer hardware, when looking to purchase a computer monitor it is important that you verify it is compatible for your brand of computer. Many monitors designed for the PC will work on the Macintosh or monitors designed for the Macintosh will work on the PC. However, generally to get these monitors to work will require an additional adapter that is obtainable from the monitor manufacturer.
It is important to note that not all monitors will work with other computers. A good example is the Apple Cinema Display, designed to only work on the Apple computers.
