Widescreen

Sometimes referred to as landscape display, widescreen is a display that is wider than it is tall. Widescreen supports a different aspect ratio than traditional displays, which enables widescreen TVs to show a DVD movie in their original format. With widescreen computer displays the user has more viewable space for computer games that support widescreen and in their other computer programs. The picture to the right is of the Acer AL1913W widescreen flat panel display and an example of what a widescreen may look like.

Today, the widescreen format is available for televisions, computer flat-panels (as shown above), and even computer laptops.
