1. When referring to an audio CD, a track is a section of a CD that contains a single full song. Tracks are used on a CD to help enable a user to skip songs or locate a song on a CD easily.
2. A track is also a data storage ring on a computer floppy diskette or hard disk drive that is capable of containing information. As shown in the picture to the right, a track goes all around the platter and is used to help locate and retrieve information from a disk or diskette.
